Penny Arcade

The most accomplished and satisfying show so far is definitely Penny Arcade's Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore! at the Universal. Nowhere near as lewd as the title suggests, this performance art/stand-up work is a brilliantly confrontational piece about sexuality, pornography, censorship, AIDS, prostitution and any number of other issues.

Arcade is a lovely performer, accessible and very funny, who basically talks common sense to the audience through the mediums of monologue, nudity and go-go dancing. Arcade's strength is that she takes issues which divide and frighten people and exposes the absurdity behind them. Arcade is a wonder to behold; she manages to entertain, absorb and broaden the audience simultaneously. Beg, steal a ticket.
